Labor Day!!!!

Well, today was a great holiday! We just hung out... which was great! Slept late, scrapbooked a little bit, cooked out and baked some KILLER brownies! Good times!! TD and I were both off work and the kids were home for the most part of the day and we had a good time! The inlaws came over for dinner and we grilled out burgers which were yummy! TD's brother came over as well and I fixed a marinade for the burgers that made them so yummy! It was a mix of olive oil, worstishire sauce, onion powder, Cavenders seasoning, and liquid smoke. I didn't measure, just a dash here and there and I just basted the burgers with the mixture as they grilled. They were so good! I also made a new brownie recipe from an old cookbook I had from when Andrew was in elementary school. We had put the cook book together along with many of the elementary parents and there are some great recipes in the book! Isn't that how it always is though? I find books like that and church cookbooks are usually the best because they have tried and true recipes that are "normal" unlike some published cookbooks. Here is the recipe for anyone who wants it.

Peanut Butter/ Chocolate Chip Brownines
1/2 cup butter softened
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup cocoa ( this was VERY chocolaty) I may reduce to 1/3 next time I make them.
1 tsp vanilla extract
6oz. chocolate chips

Place everything in the mixing bowl except the chocolate chips. Mix with the mixer just until everything is combined well. Don't over mix. Stir in chocolate chips. Place in greased baking dish approximately 9" x 13". Bake at 375 for about 35 minutes.

These were so good and RICH!!!! A little vanilla ice cream on top of warm brownies were the BEST!!!! Enjoy!

Today Alicia set up her first Facebook which I have been trying to avoid for a while. I hope that she is responsible enough for it! I do have complete access to it also though so I am not as worries as I was but geez its so scary having both of the kids grow up! Tomorrow is the Salt Bowl which is the BIG football game between Benton and Bryant. Our kids go to Benton and Bryant has always been a big rival. The game is at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock and is a BIG deal! They are having a big Pep rally tomorrow at school for the big game and the seniors get to run out since it's the first big game of the year. A lot of them are dressing up and Andrew is dressing up as Paulie Bleeker from the movie Juno. He looks great! He had the shirt made especially for tomorrow and we had to buy white arm bands and head band and dye them yellow. I thought it was genious!

Have a great one!
